  1. The data are observed n (weighted %) and sex comparisons were performed using Chi2 tests. Public modes of transport to work included journeys by bus (65.1%), train (27.8%), or both (7.1%). Active travel modes comprised walking (80.1%) and bicycling (19.9%). The mean travel time to work (and back) by mode of transport was 53.2 (95% CI: 50.4 to 56.0) min/d by motor vehicle, 81.2 (71.6 to 90.8) min/d by public transport, and 28.0 (21.6 to 34.3) min/d by active travel. Very good self-rated health included 58 participants who were in excellent health. Fair self-rated health included 14 participants who were in poor health
